My local club in Northern Virginia puts on a technical skills day each year at one of our local Jeep dealerships. We usually have a few XJ's show up (who of course dominate the course). Its not extreme, its really meant to teach driving skills such as tire placement, wheel speed control, brake control, where the corners of the rig are etc.
There will also be a swap meet that day at the dealership. There is never any XJ stuff so dont bother going to the swap meet (mine, mine, its all mine).
The event is followed on Sunday with a "new to Jeeping run" on some rough fire roads (small rocks, shallow mud) ideal for newbies but it ends at a nice meadow, 4,500ft with great views and a pic-nic.
