steering gear box

if my steering makes clunking noises when going left-to-right (or back), even at a complete stop, that means the steering gear box is a goner, right? How did everything break so easily! 33" tires and maybe 2 trips out there and it's done for. I did have pretty bad death wobble experiences if that matters.

As well as tracbar and tirod pops, it could also be the steering linkage(the steerng "driveshaft"). On mine one of the little u-joints was stuck and it would make the shaft clunk against the body. I used a whole shaft from a junker XJ, but replacement joints are likely available.
