0331 head [low emission]

Well... I think this is my first post... to the point

I am in the process of buying a 1999 XJ Limited, and I was wondering when they switched from the 0630 head to the low emission 0331 head. I've read that it was in later during the 99 model, or only in the 2000 model. I'm also wondering if I should really be that scared of having the low emission head... if so, can it be replaced?

76,000 miles and no 0331 head problems.

The 0331 was only used with the distributor-less XJ's model years 2000 and 2001. Anything is possible with Jeeps but if you have a distibutor you don't have an 0331 head. Use the search function and enter 0331 head for more postings.

Here is a good 0331 thread - http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=102696&highlight=0331+head

116,000 here and no issues.

130,000 here and runs great with 265/75-16's... getting 20-22mpg on stock gearing too (highway)
