Question 89 XJ rearend

89 4 door 4wd. putting an ox locker in the rear but i cant figure out which axle i have. any help or suggestions on finding out would be awesom

89 is most likely the dana 35c(non c-clip), unless your real lucky, dana 44

thanks guys just went and checked out the pumpkin shape and it is a d44. upgrade the shafts while replacing the gears and diff??

Your lucky, D44 is a very strong axle. What size tires will you be runing? Also what kind of wheeling do you see most, mud, rocks, etc?

mud snow ice some rocks. but i tend to drop the hammer alot. 4.0 bored 40 over. .430 lift cam. 33 inch mt/r 4 inch lift

are you 100% positive you have the dana44? measure the axle tube diameter. i think the d44 is 3"dia and the d35 is around 2.6"dia

they mostly came in the 87xj with towing package, very rare in an 89xj.

If it looks like that non round shape then its a 44. I got my d44 out of an 89 so anything is possible(or likely)
