Any idea what trails we’re going to run? Maybe we could make a list to choose from and vote on?

Just a thought from the peanut gallery. :)

I think brian has a list of trail leaders so he may have an idea on what trails we are good for right now. I think we need to do a few of each level depending on attendance and leaders. If you have a trail in particular or want to lead one let brian know.

Thanks Steve. Hey Brian, got a list of trails people could look at? :D

Im thinking of rolling down for this one..... anybody have any pics from the trails we might be running. Its always nice to get a visual of some of the stuff before you go somewhere new.....

This is the only one I have from the area, but I'm sure others have more.

Here’s some pics of a few places we will be wheeling. Some of these trails are just minutes from camp and I guess we would have multiple groups going each day to well known trails like lower and upper woodpecker and lower and upper ajax. A little further from camp is martinez canyon, coke ovens, jack handle, box canyon, and elvis. In between are some extreme trails. I won’t mention their names on the web but I think we can get some guys hooked up to do those trails. Below are links to naxja threads with lots of pics, too.

Oh man I can't wait to see some Cali folks out here. Those of you who are thinking of coming out. DO IT! It will be worth the 6 hr drive. If you like you can even use my house as a jump off point.

Mike, that’s a great pic of martinez canyon loop and the boulder field. Here are a few pics from about 10 years ago I scanned.

Yeah what trails are we planning? Upper and Lower Woodpecker, Upper and Lower Ajax, H2H, Elvis, Martinez Loop, Box Canyon, Jackhandle? Any of the hard trails like Woodys Wash, Axle Alley, Bad Medicine, Overdose, Extasy? What are we planning?

Steve, love those old pics. I always get a kick out of comparing then and now. Was that your old Bronco? I’ve heard about people falling into the Crack but that’s the first one I’ve seen. Cool. :guitar:

Mike the bronco belongs to an engineer here at the observatory.

Kemo there will be trail rides of various difficulties each day. I don’t know which ones and may be arranged the day of. Pick one and lead.

There are trails for semi stock 4wd’s, too. The road systems that the rock crawling trails start from are old mining roads which wind their way from our camp throughout the middle gila river canyons. If there is interest then we can make arrangements to wheel from camp to:

Ajax mine road to superior.
Box canyon via mineral mtn road.
Coke ovens.
Battleaxe road via coke ovens.
Walnut Canyon via battleaxe road.
White canyon via battleaxe (protected, a place for hikers).

Here are some more pics.
