Rattling noise when under load.
I have a 98 xj sport 4.0, auto.
when going up hills in a high gear turning 2-3000 rpm, there is a strange rattling noise coming from what sounds like right in front of me behind the firewall. have any ideas what it is?

Pull the inspection cover and check your flexplate bolts, had the same issue with mine and all it was was the bolts were loose

the plate that is behind the motor, on the bottom of the front of the tranny. It is held on by several small bolts and is real thin.

Its slight pinging on mine.. same conditions, load, etc.
