Knowledge on fuel cells needed

I am trying to figure out what kind of fuel cell is best and legal to use. I know that there are some variances of fuel cells that dont work with stock fuel systems. If I were to build/buy a 12 to 15 gal fuel cell, would it be best to reuse the OEM fuel pump and pickup? Or will aftermarket ones work?

Also, I have installed a few, but never learned about them. What would be the best (READ) cheapest way to go? Arnt there only a few kinds of fuel cells? Baffled, gel lined, and a bag kind? I would be willing to guess that they would all work, but experience is better than guessing. What you guys have to say?

Edit: Yes california smog legal. And if I have to reuse the stock tank, I just wont do it.

legal as in california smog legal? if that's the case I believe you will have to use a relocated stock tank, or at least one that looks stock and has a stock type gas filler.
