The Georgia Bounty Runners Four Wheel Drive Club needs your help!

JEEP Raffle - Great Cause - Help bring a paralyzed wife and mother back home to her family.

As some of you already know and have already purchased tickets for or made donations to help, The Georgia Bounty Runners Four Wheel Drive Club, based in Atlanta, GA, has completely restored a beautiful 1980 JEEP CJ-5 to be raffled off, for which all proceeds will benefit the “Payne Fund”, an ongoing effort to raise funds for one of our member families, Ralph and Robin Payne.

Robin was critically injured in an automobile accident in November of 2002 and was left paralyzed as a result of her injuries. Robin and Ralph must now purchase a home that will be suited for Robin’s special access needs. Robin has been living with her parents for almost a year now, several miles away from her husband and children.

Their current home is not wheelchair accessible and 100% of the proceeds from the JEEP raffle and all donations will go to a building fund for their new home. With the loss of Robin's income and a tremendous amount of wages lost by Ralph while tending to Robin for many months after the accident, this is the only way in which we can get that family back under one roof.

We are in the last few days of being able to sell tickets online. We are very short of our goal and we could use your help. PLEASE buy a ticket if you can. If you don't want to buy a ticket but are willing to make a donation, even the smallest amount will help!

PLEASE VISIT http://www.paynejeep.com to purchase tickets or make donations.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS EVENT?
The Georgia Bounty Runners Four Wheel Drive Club, based in Atlanta, GA, has restored a 1980 JEEP CJ-5 for which all proceeds will benefit the “Payne Fund”, an ongoing effort to raise funds for one of our member families, Ralph and Robin Payne. Robin was critically injured in an automobile accident in November of 2002 and was left paralyzed as a result of her injuries. Robin and Ralph must now purchase a home that will be suited for Robin’s special access needs.

This project has been a true labor of love by the GBR membership. Volunteers from the club have donated hundreds of personal hours, materials, parts, whatever has been needed, in order to ensure this project became a reality.

HOW IT STARTED?
The “Payne Jeep Project “ as it has come to be known, started out as an idea from GBR member, Paul Fon. Paul owned the 1980 CJ5 and had a vision of a way to raise money to help Ralph and Robin meet these new financial needs they are facing. He donated the CJ5 and the Georgia Bounty Runner’s Vice President, Kerry Vanderpool volunteered to coordinate the restoration effort.
Kerry has spent countless personal hours scheduling “work weekends” where GBR members, friends and members from other clubs, have come together to work on restoring the CJ5. This began with stripping the vehicle to its frame, cleaning, repairing or replacing every component and building it back into a vehicle that anyone would be proud to own.

These efforts took place at three specific locations, the home workshops of Kerry Vanderpool, Ken Sutz and Paul Beck. These individuals opened up their homes so that the work could be split up into three simultaneous target areas, the body, chassis and engine. Groups of volunteers met at these locations on scheduled weekends and worked long hours until specific tasks were completed. There were also many hours worked on non-scheduled days so that the work never stopped. Various components were taken home by group volunteers to be rebuilt, cleaned, painted, etc.

Meanwhile, efforts were also being made to contact and secure donations from various vendors for parts that were needed. Donations of parts and funds for parts have been provided by several sources, some of which will be displayed in other locations on this site.
