I noticed the other day that my door jam is cracking near the vent for the rear air. Does anyone know what is causing this to happen?

I have the same problem on my 87 2dr.

I was thinking about unibody stiffeners and braces

Door jamb crack

To me it looks like you have a stress fracture or crack, if you are putting your xj under alot of stress when flexing it can cause this to happen.

anyone else have any input?

Same on my 2-door as well.. Just one of the wonders of unibody.... I wouldn't give it a whole lot of thought, unless it gets progressively worse.

well the crack on the bottom is fairly new....havent noticed anything else getting worse other than that, though....

I really wouldn't worry about it much... You could go with a frame stiffener.. And really give the unibody some much needed stability.. But it really isn't necessary unless you start cracking the main rails of the unibody.

Edit: Beer makes me spell funny.
