Bought s new cheap Jeep beater project. Took it for a test run on a local trail. Jeep did great. Tossed cps right at last waterfall on exit. Took a bit to get to town and crap parts and tools. Just loaded on trailer since I had truck and Jeep at that point.
Calamity trail. Montrose.

Cool find! So, what's "cheap" now a days in the TJ world?

My cousin got a smokin' deal on a very clean, shiny '10 JK Unlimited Sport..... $5K. Stock, runner/driver with 225K miles. I'm guessing the miles is what put the price so far down....?

So I snagged this thing with the following.
01 se. budget boost on Bilstein shocks. 4.88s. Front lunchbox. Front fender. Rocker sliders. Winch. New 35s. Hard top. Soft top. Bikini top. Upgraded steering. Plus a few small odds and ends. 3k. Once I ditch the hard top I’ll be in it 2k.

Hell it's got most of the mods I'd want to do to a little Wrangler. 2.5L?

Yeah I'm seeing cheaper Wranglers around here recently in some instances than XJs. Which is not the norm hah.

Yep a little 4 popper. It’s a good setup. New rear axle with a locker will help a ton with performance. Have a hand throttle set up coming to see if that’ll make me like it more. But really it needs an auto. As the 30rh swaps aren’t cheap I would likely find a 4.0 auto xj and swap stuff over. Luckily finding a battered xj with a good driveline is pretty easy/cheap.

Nice score. TJ's and early JK's are definitely getting cheaper which is good and bad. Good because they've always been over priced, bad because it makes one really tempting LOL.

That trail looks fun, I'll have to keep it in mind for the spring/summer.

That's a great Jeep for the price! What are your plans for it?

Thanks I thought so.
Ditch hard top. (Done)
Swap in rear axle (have 8.25 trussed, 488,lunchbox, set up for tri uppers)
Build new links (stock now) stretch 1-2” front and back
Hand throttle (done)
Build bumpers, cage, skids
Wheel.
Focus is on the Tacoma since it helps with business. And without a lot of money it won’t be a super wheeler. So just leave as it is kinda of deal. Just finish it up.

Not real wheeling so just adding here. Snow
Wheeling with it a few times pre surgery and once since with my brother driving. Lots of snow to catch this side.

Some pics from same trail. Different rigs. Was too muddy and soft to make it all the way in these rigs so had to turn back about 90% through. Luckily multiple escape routes. Hoping once new parts are on I can get Tacoma all the way through.
