March 23 - 24 AAT Workdays

I just want to say thank you to Charles, Rick and Mark for helping clean up the trash left by filthy animals and to get some brush cut back on the trail.

The first few miles of trail had been washed out from the recent rains. A lot of the culverts have washed away and there are a few mud slide spots. Also it appears that SBNF has ran a dozer up the first mile or so. We picked up your typical beer bottles and boxes and a few tires before we discovered the couch and loveseat. We had filled the back of Marks Dodge.

Once we made up to the spur with the gate on it we busted out the hedge trimmers and lopers and got to work. As some of you might know BlurpleXJ got into a pickle back in September last year. We managed to get the gate opened back up to the TPost it's is supposed to be tied open to. After a brief lunch break we continued up the trail to check for more trash.

That's when we came across a downed tree and a group of wheelers who where coming up from running cleghorn. They had tried to winch it to no avail. Marks Dodge tried to yank it and then Charles gave it a go with his winch and a snatch block. Snapped his winch line so Mark attempted to pull it again with the Dodge and a snatch strap. It only moved a few feet before we gave up. It's gonna need to be saw cut and then cleared. It's just after the intersection with 2N45.

We headed back down and loaded up the couches from earlier before leaving the trail.

That poor Dodge. And to think it had been so lovingly cared for by its previous owner.

Great job guys. I appreciate all the work being done.

Re: March 23 - 24 AAT Workdays

The morning started out overcast and foggy, which was nice as we weren't getting beaten up by the sun.

Not even a 1/3rd of the way into the trail we already had 3 bags of trash, 3 tires, a laundry basket and a bunch of other trash.

When we were recovering the couches we found this little guy, as I later found out, he's a "California Vole."

Grand total was 660lbs of trash.
