Separate "frame" and body? Total teardown

I am about to strip down my 92 Xj to do some rust fixing and a new paint job.
Heres my question. Is it possible to remove the "frame" from the body? I've seen it referred to a framed unibody or uniframe, so I assume it's just welded on? The front looks like it might me the most challenging part.

Why do I want to remove it? I would like to weld up a few rust patches, plus I want to strengthen/upgrade it.

Just a thought, I'm not to familiar with unibody/uniframe trucks.

Thanks

While it can be done, the basic answer for most of us is "NO" !

It's not easy or worthwhile for the most part but can be done if you really want to. If you want to fix some rust patches just drill out the spot welds fab in new metal and weld them back in. Just forewarning body work on a unibody can be an absolute B.

As for strengthening the unibody don't need to reinvent the wheel, just get some frame stiffeners.

Thanks for the links to the other threads- some cool stuff there!
