Replacing front brakes and rotor's 1999 4.0
I am replacing my front brake pads and rotors, it's been so many years since I did it last I forgot which pads and rotors I used.
I don't want ceramic, is Bendix the tried and true replacement pads? Is there a certain rotor brand that is better or are they pretty much all the same? |

Re: Replacing front brakes and rotor's 1999 4.0
Cheap, no name, "lifetime warranty" brake parts squeak, perform barely adequately on stock Cherokees, make lots of dust, and wear out quickly. Brand name, top grade brake parts are clean, quiet, long lasting parts that will give excellent performance. Semi Metallic disk brake pads would be my choice.
Cheap rotors are thin and lightweight. Quality rotors are thicker and have more material by weight. Most parts stores have 2-3 grades of brake parts. Spend a few extra dollars and get the good stuff.

I installed a set of Raybestos semi-metallic Advanced Technology brake pads on the front of the ZJ with new rotors and they made a nice improvement in braking. Fairly cheap too.
