Re: Project Unicorn - a light duty trail rig

I may have missed a post, is there a reason that you didn't mount the sensor in the stock location? I've never had mine read incorrect by more than a few degrees.

Re: Project Unicorn - a light duty trail rig

Yeah it goes on the front crossmember.

Temperature should be measured in the shade and wind. You want all the heat transferred so that its completely ambient reading.

Re: Project Unicorn - a light duty trail rig

That's pretty close to where it started out, but when the Jeep gets back from aFe I will crawl under and look at it closer.

I may look for a different sensor that's easier to mount, too.

Re: Project Unicorn - a light duty trail rig

ZJs have a small little pigtail extender on their sensor, just a few inches long. I use it on my XJ because its easier to mount to the sheet metal.

Part collecting. Expect rapid movement and updates after KOH.

Re: Project Unicorn - a light duty trail rig

Now that I'm home.

So I haven't been idle on this, just collecting lots of parts.

Plan is 4" lift
deaver G9's @ 2.75" + shackle relocator + shackle
Pac 4" jeepspeed coil
SFR 3 link

HP30 front
Motive Grip Pro limited slip
4.10 gears
WJ converted (same trackbar setup as 4643)
Ten Factory shafts
Black Magic Brakes

XJ44 rear
iron rock truss
4.10 gears
Motive Grip Pro limited slip
Ten Factory shafts
8.8 backing plates with TJ 44 brakes and black magic pads

285/75/16 Falken Wildpeak MT's on Procomp 16x8 wheels

Bishop Buehl 4.7 stroker, kind of middle of the road build

Atlas 3.8

Bilstein 5100's for now, may do 7100 shortbody's later.

I have almost everything now, I just need to pick up a few odds and ends and make the time to do it. I know Dallas is chomping at the bit to get the 3 link kit buttoned up, I may leave it with him to start working on it but I won't be able to finish things until after KOH.

Re: Project Unicorn - a light duty trail rig

Deaver makes whatever you want, you just have to ask. These were the standard G9s that they lowered for me.

I'm liking this idea too -- I already have the pac 4" springs -- like you I'm just acquiring parts at the moment

What shackle components are you going to use? Made by who?

Re: Project Unicorn - a light duty trail rig

So I haven't really been updating here, because image hosting has been so bad.

GSequoia took pitty on you guys and hooked me up with hosting this morning.

We'll jump thru a bunch of work and hit the highlights.

Synergy stopped making their XJ 4 link kit. Its a pretty nice kit, so Dallas knocked up something very similar to fill the market space. We started off just test fitting the prototype on my jeep, but somehow accidently cut all of the factory mounts off and ended up doing a thing.

The brackets bolted up (just the crossmember bolts) and some prototype arms knocked off for fitment testing.

Some upper link mounts for the factory setup. These use JK UCA bushings with a 7/16 bolt instead of the 10mm stuff.

The prototype arms had 3 UCA positions so you could dial in caster changes thru the suspension swing, but we found some interference with the brackets, the production unit has two options.

They mount with the 2 crossmember bolts, the third crossmember hole, and 10 thru the floor bolts on each bracket. You have to pull the plastic trim at the door and lift the carpet for access.
