Help with Reverse Lights

Does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes, my reverse lights won't turn on right away when I'm going in reverse. this is a problem because I go to the gym everymoring at 430 am and my driveway is a huge hill, and when the lights dont work or turn on when im all the way down, it poses a problem of hitting the many trees! I dont know if i have a lose wire or a fuse or something, i just dont know how to go about finding it or anything.

Is it an auto? If so try to put some pressure on the shifter. If that works then the switch needs to be adjusted.

Auto or Manual? In my manual, the switch has a small spring loaded ball bearing. After a while, the spring gives out and the ball bearing does not give full contact sometimes. I just purchased a new switch from Jeep for $19 and everything works great again.
