i want to swap a AW4/D-300(jeep) into a 76 CJ-7 with a 401.
it is a trail jeep, that has street tires so it can drive around town.
in trail form it has scout housings, locked, 4.88's on 38" swampers and the WB streached 4".
questions: although it is a stock 401, will the AW4 hold up to the power. i run a 4.6 stroker in front of one with over 200k mi, i give it no slack and it holds up fine. i think it will be fine, what do you guys think?
i know all the bolt patterns match up but the 401 is an externally balanced motor, what about the 4.0, and how will this effect the balance?
i have all the electronics worked out, the main concern is the balancing issue and who out there could make the 4.0 flywheel work, if it would'nt already?
is there anything else i'm missing?
