Writing an English paper about Jeeps

My latest assignment in english is to write a 10 page research paper about something that interests us. I figured I would write about what I know best.

I'm breaking the paper down into a few sections

1.) Creation
2.) WWII
3.) Post-WWII era
4.) The Jeep has become an american icon

Any websites that you know of that could help me would be great, and what would be even more awsome would be if anyone had a copy of the special that the History Channel did about the jeep.

ive got a book you could get all your info from. its called "The History of the Jeep". my mom got it for me for christmas its got all the info about any jeep ever made and more

Depending on what level English class your in, you might want to avoid websites that do not have any credentials. While you may get some geat info from some strange places, your best and most reliable resource will be books and scholarly journals. As we all now, anyone one with a pc and a internet connection can post something on the web. Try Google Scholar to search scholarly papers: http://scholar.google.com/

There have been many books written on both World Wars and inside them you will find info about the Jeeps used.

Depending on your grade level, try:
Four-Wheel Drive, by David HawXXXX

Seriously though, do plenty of research. For a ten page paper you will need at least 10 resources, but I would aim for at least 15.

Good luck!

You forgot:

5) Dilution of Jeep traditions by Daimler/Benz

Look at all the sudden changes since 1995 or so (when did D/B buy ChryCo, anyhow?) and relate that to both the competition of Jeep with the Benz line, and with the misunderstanding of the current car consumer (what they want vice what they actually go and buy - the two never quite seem to be the same...) Now we've got Jeeps that drive like cars, and that just isn't right.

I would have to agree. I am a college English instructor and I would not suggest that you just use web sites (especially ones without an academic background). You will need to also use textual sources and make sure that each source is cited and then referenced in your Works Cited page following MLA rules for citation. A good rule is 2/3 textual support and 1/3 electronic support. For a ten page paper, you should have AT LEAST one cite in each body paragraph from a variety of sources. If you do not do this, your teacher/professor will not be too happy with your paper. A good way to check to see if you are using cites correctly is to type out your paper with the cites and then go back through and delete all of your quotes. If the paper doesn't make sense, you are not using them correctly. Cites are for examples, not explainations.
