Dana 44 off centered differential question

I bought a dana 44 axle from a 1977 jeep cherokee wagoneer. I got it home and realized that the differential sits about 4" to the right, so I don't know if that's ok to run in my jeep. I have a '93 jeep cherokee btw.

i believe they offset the diff to clear the gas tank and driveshaft that year.... I think the non-offset rears are more desirable for drivetrain angle reasons, but maybe some guys are running them without problems on their lifted rigs.

If it is a trail rig only youd probably be ok.XJ's usually have enough driveline issues w/o throwing compound angles in there!

I just helped a friend put one of those in an MJ. It works fine, but his rear driveshaft is longer which decreases the angle a bit.
