Fuel gauge/pump doing weird things?

98 4.0L with 135K.

It seems once I get over 200mis on a tank the gauge drops past the E mark and the light turns on, even though I have fuel in the tank. Also if I hit some rough bumps/pot holes on the free way the motor will hesitate and if I have cruise on it'll turn off automatically. The Jeep has stalled and died a couple of times when coming to a stop or turn.

Does this sound like the fuel pump/sending unit? Thanks.

I would check the grounds back by the tank. PITA but your "locking" collar may have popped loose, unfortunately you have to drop the tank to check.
