Timing Question

I noticed my jeep starts faster and has more throttle response with the rotor indexed closer to the middle of the post instead of the trailing edge. Is this the same thing as advancing the timing like a high altitude cps would do?

Timing is not adjustable by rotating the distributor.

Rotor is indexed at trailing edge when cyl#1 is at TDC Compression. Since ignition occurs at some point before TDC, the rotor and post will be aligned properly. Remember ignition timing will vary depending on the sensor inputs to the PCM/ECM.

The distributor, wires and plugs are all brand new.

It may run a tiny bit "smoother" set at the trailing edge, but towards the middle it starts in about 3 cranks vs. 6 and definitely has better throttle response.

So it could be a sensor issue? I have bosch 746 injectors would that change anything?
