Re: Bilstein shocks... whatchya gonna runnin??

Wait what? Not following the last comment..

The valving guide is curious too.. the first line being Jeep/ rock crawler with leaf springs... is it talking front and rear or like out xjs?

I planned on 255/70

But the list below saying Jeep rock crawler with coils should be 360/80... think I’ll stick with 255/70...

And likely go with 26.40 extended or 28.30 and lower the bar pin eliminators

I think coil sprung it recomends the hd heavier valving.

Would have to do some digging to figure out what valving they use on xj front for vehicle specific shocks. I'd guess everything with in pin top coil sprung jeep size rig is valved the same.

I'd pick the heaviest valved option they arent as stiff as the mono max.

I think your on longer arms to so a heavier valved shock will work well

Re: Bilstein shocks... whatchya gonna runnin??

So 360/80 would be better then the 270/55? Or is it the opposite since after you divide the 350/80 = 4.5 vs the 270/55= ~4.9... not sure what to make of that lol

Bilstein shocks... whatchya gonna runnin??

Honestly I'm not sure I didnt think of it that way..

Umm I think by they're chart the big number higher is firmer. I also wonder if the big number is the psi the nitrogen is set at. Small number rebound??

Beats me

Re: Bilstein shocks... whatchya gonna runnin??

Well at least I don’t feel like a total idiot... I’m gonna have to just call a shock “specialist” and shoot the breeze for a few and get these damn things ordered already

The shock warehouse pr someplace like that.
Not sure youl dig up much on cookie cutter shocks like the 5125

I'm semi interested in valving compared to monomax but know near nothing about each. So I might dig to.

52 neutrons 3apples 2carrots and a onion= a silver shock.

I really wish youd consider the fox ifp I did notice the 5125 is 94 bucks that's starting to get close to ifp price.

I have seen the ifp listed for 129 but it's never in stock at those places.

This is the 11.1 ifp

Valved at 360/80 was damn near perfect. I wouldn't worry about vehicle specific, find some with the right valving, mounts, and travel. A 12" travel shock should do you fine. With the 14" short bodies and long arms, I had enough droop to fully unseat my coils.

Exactly the feedback I was looking for... you running 5125s? Sounds like the exact shock I need!

I had 7100s with reservoirs, so I don't know if they do short bodies outside of the 7100 range. A 12" travel shock should fit the same space as the 14" short body. I was at right about ~5" of lift in the front.

Re: Bilstein shocks... whatchya gonna runnin??

Had? What replaced em?
7100s are nice... but getting into 200$ per shock isn’t something I’m ready for.. probably be looking at Fox and or coil overs at that point... which is no time soon
Probably won’t find short bodies without a reservoir tho :/

Re: Bilstein shocks... whatchya gonna runnin??

Man i thought I had a lot more options with the bilstein 5125s.. now that I’m reading the chart correctly, I have 2 choices in the 360/80 valving for eye to eye... 10” travel is all’s a get apparently
