Project wannabe Jeepspeed

I am a member of Cherokee forum and there isn't much jeepspeed info over there so I joined here today and I'll be sharing this build for my knowledge and others'. So I decided to ditch my '88 Cherokee and pick up a clean '98 Cherokee. She has power everything, sunroof, 124k miles, 4wd, Aw4, and no oil leaks woo!! What I want to build is essentially something to go fast when I want to, but still be road worthy as I like to drive to my wheeling locations and camp and such. Here are some pics from the day I picked it up.

Some of the parts I've purchased include Full traction long arm kit, jeepspeed deaver packs, full traction boomerang shackles, fox shocks 2.0x10, 2.0x14, artec d30 truss and c-gussets, and a Ford explorer 8.8

I pulled the D30 out and beefed it up. It received an Artec truss and c-gussets, boxed and plated lower control arm mounts, and a new lower track bar mount built from 3/16". Also welded to tubes to the diff housing. I hope she'll hold up!

Here is how I built the upper and lower shock mounts in order to utilize the 10" shocks. I tied the tube in at the upper control arm mount bolt and I plan on running a tube from upper control arm mount bolt the length of the "frame" and tie it into the front leaf spring bolts to form a tubular subframe for stiffening and strengthening and also a place to later on tie the roll cage into

Haha good catch! Those interior pics were ones that the original owner sent to me when I requested pictures before I went to buy it. Looks like some sort of demonic phone cover . Anyways, I ordered wheels and tires for her this morning. I'm going with 295/75R16 Toyo Open country A/T 2's and 16X8 Black Method Double standards, should be here next week.

Looks nice.

Once thing to consider (if its not to late that is) is the load range of those 16" tires. Likely a E or at least a D. Most (about 95%) of every jeep out there only needs a C range. Why does it matter? Ride quality, air down ability and biggest reason, weight.

Nice build though....

Sorry, let me clarify, I'm curious to see how he is planning on running 14" shocks in the rear.

That is a good point you bring up RWK. I checked them and they are an E load rating, thats alright I guess since this XJ will be 80% off-road and aired down.

Sideways, I have been working on the shocks all morning. I cut 3x4" holes in the floor between the frame box and wheel wells to run the shocks through. Im mounting the shocks onto the top of the spring plates and then building plated boxed towers with triangulated bracing, I should have some progress pics up of the rear within a couple of days bud
