Re: Fat City Pre-Runner build

I met up with Kevin from H&M this morning to pick up the front suspension.
It's F'ing awesome!

There's only a 2 companies that make a long travel 4WD kit for this year F-150.
Dixon Bros Racing and H&M Motorsports. Dixon re-uses a conversion bracket that bolts to your stock steering knuckle via the stock ball joint (F that!) They also only use Urothane bushings (F those!)
H&M was deffinitely more expensive but comes with all new Chromoly knuckles that eliminate ball joints all together in favor of HUGE spherical brgs.
And sperical brgs. and heims rather than bushings.
The arms are also boxed in and Chromoly.

I want bullet proof stuff so I pony'd up for the H&M kit.
It took almost 3 months to have made, but they were way cool to deal with and it was totally worth the wait.

Re: Fat City Pre-Runner build

The kit also upgrades the stock CV's to larger 930 CV's to deal with the travel and longer 4130 Chromoly axles...
Gotta huge boner right now, but thats a story for another time...lol

I've got nothing but good things to say to date.
The welding is beautiful. The product is nice. The price is outragous! But atleast they didnt sacrafice the design just to make it more affordable like the other guys.

nice work. I have always been a fan of the four door f-150's. This one is my favorite so far.

Re: Fat City Pre-Runner build

Alright! Spent all day Saturday buttoning up the rear. Got the Deaver's on. Pulled the shock mounts out for welding and painting. Plated the frame area and got it all back together.

Boxed the inside of the mounts.

I himmed and hawed over plating the frame where the hoops bolt to. I'm on a tight schedule, but I'd hate to see it give a problem later on, so I bit the bullet and went for it.

Re: Fat City Pre-Runner build

Sunday marked a full day of suck. Had some help from a friend. We pulled all of the stock torsion suspension off and plasma'd all the bracket off the frame. Went to town with the 4" for a few hours and got the frame cleaned up and ready for the new stuff

I'm hoping to have it done by then, but I'm in Frisco that weekend. I plan on bringing it out the following weekend for Best Trip Ever. Your coming right?
