I had a vibration coming from my front driveshaft that ended up being the front output bearing of my transfer case.

Even the smallest amount of play in the bearing indicates that it is bad.

You could look/feel by hand but that might not really tell you anything. The best way would be to put a dial indicator on the output yoke.
