It's that time again! ColoradoFest '06 is quickly approaching!

Buena Vista is going to be our host and the club has reserved a group site at Chalk Creek C.G. in Nathrop - which is just south of B.V. Be sure to make your reservations early if you don't plan on using the group site. We encourage you all to bring a bundle or two of firewood to contribute to the evening pit-fire - thanks in advance!

A list and schedule for trails is currently being developed. Our Secretary / Treasurer Jeff Taylor (planefixer) will be coordinating this. If you would like to volunteer to be a trail leader, please P.M. him.

We will be doing the Dinner Night again and we're in need of cooks and dinner ideas so get ahold of either myself or Justin Schrock (jrsxj98) to volunteer or make suggestions. We may need grills too....

The over-nighter trip this year will be to Blanca Peak instead of the usual Holy Cross Trail run. This should be an awesome trail and is open to everyone! However, this is at the least a moderate trail, so 33's, rear locker, and skid armor is going to be required. We also will need the group to be prepared to leave very early the morning the trip is scheduled. Blanca is one of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks and we'll be camping at Lake Como which is at 11,780 feet. Here's a couple links to some pics of the trail and lake: http://www.mhjcontherocks.com/Community/Trips/1186.aspx or 4x4 trails.net has info http://www.4x4trails.net/db_view_trail.php?trailNum=15, however the photos on the 2nd link are of the wrong trail, but gives a good description of the trail.

The weather for this event is going to be hard to predict - after all it IS Colorado and we could see anything from dry hot days, to rain, to snow during August. Last year, it rained off and on for a good part of the last half of the event so come prepared for all types of weather.

ColoradoFest is a NAXJA sponsored event, so all event rules and equipment requirements will be adhered to. Please see this link and scroll down to "Article IX – Sponsored Events and Trips" for info: http://www.naxja.org/html/bylaws.htm

I will be in charge of the Raffle and general coordination of the event. If you'd like to sponsor the event, please contact me directly (YELLAHEEP).

This is going to be a great event and I look forward to seeing everyone there!
