Re: Swapping out to Led's?
So you are doing the blinkers too?
The 194's in the side markers? Be careful. You might think they work but might not. Make sure you check them with headlights on and headlights off. Cause I suspect you might have this problem. So putting it in one way resulted in this: Would go on with headlights. Would blink when using the turn signals when the headlights were on. Would not blink when using the turn signals with the headlights off. Putting the bulb in the other way resulted in this: Would not light up when you turned on the headlights. Would blink when you used the turn signals with the headlights off. Would not blink when you used the turn signals with the headlights on. |

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
I can see where that might be a issue, there is a connection between the side marker and the headlights. I'll give it a try and go from there.

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
Going to need a Non Polarity LED there if you do.
I used these: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...t-car/199/872/ |

So in 194's in the side markers only? I appreciate any experience you have with doing this!

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
Well the couple write ups I have done I like to show pictures.
I try to be thorough. Operative word being try. Explain everything best I can. Show links to the specific stuff I used. I noticed the Sylvania Zevo bulb links at Advance are dead. But those are everywhere making them easy to find. That is the thing about some peoples write ups. Come up with awesome ideas but a lot of the specifics are lacking. While I think it might be something I want to do just not enough info for me to duplicate it. Some people don't even include links. When you ask them they just say they don't remember and is something they bought off of Amazon, Ebay, etc. Which I think is funny. Because they can go back in their purchase history and see exactly what they bought. Cause my thinking is you used these specific parts and were happy with the outcome. So I want to use what you used. Not that I might make a change or substitute another part here and there but........ |

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
Well I tried it tonight with the new flasher and 194 incandescent lamps in the side markers. It went off like a Christmas tree with it "back feeding" thru all the different bulbs. I will look at it again tomorrow to see if the front 3157's have any change with reversing the polarity.

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
So I bought these 3157's and they say they are non-polarized, I need to test them and the sockets on the Jeep otherwise I'm pretty stumped at the moment!

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
What kind of sockets do you think we have in the Jeep?
This caught my eye in the Amazon listing: "Not suitable for CK sockets". Of course I had no idea what they were so I Goolged it. https://www.vleds.com/ck/ |

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
Yes, I ran across all that info last night. Mine is a 2000 so it should be the same as yours and I bought it new back in '00.

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
I don't know what kind are in mine.
I was hoping I could get a clear look at the sockets in the video in my thread but no such luck. Maybe the problem with the CK sockets is only a non polarity bulb thing. The only problems I had were the 194's for the side markers and a couple fitment issues. Otherwise my install went pretty smooth. |

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
I just installed all the factory front bulbs and now I have a back-feed in the left rear. I'm am also wondering about my trailer light adapter and any effects it would have. It was acting weird before I started this. I also have my original order of a EP27 coming today although I just bought a EP27 yesterday.

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
BTW, it has standard configuration sockets but I'm also questioning whether I "need" polarized lamps to prevent any back-feeding.

Re: Swapping out to Led's?
Now that is one thing I read when researching installing LED's.
It seemed that guys with a trailer hitch harness had problems. I don't have one which I specified towards the end of the thread in the summary. But I picked up a Mopar hitch and harness from the boneyard a couple months ago. In pretty good shape for $40. I was wondering if it would cause me problems and figure I will find out when I try to mount the hitch. But I might not use it. I don't trailer and if it won't play nice with my factory gas skid and factory rear tow hooks then I won't use it. Rather have them then the hitch. Which by the way while Mopar only offered one for the driver's side I had a second one and modded to use on the passenger side. Also the Zevo's I used have polarity. |
