Wheel Well Rear Storage Box

I had a locking plastic storage box in my 1989 XJ that fit over the rear, passenger side wheel well. It had a cutout in the back to take advantage of the indention. I got it from JC Whitney. In 2002 (Several years after I sold the 1989) I bought a 1991 XJ and thought I would get one of the boxes because it was so handy. JC Whitney had quit carrying them so I have been looking for nearly 5 years and haven't found one.

It was 8" to 10" wide as I recall and pretty much covered from the back seat to the liftgate and came a little bit above the back window. It was made from black plastic.

Does anyone know where to find one of these boxes?

OK. That is a start. Is there anything on it that indicates who actually manufactured it?

I remember seeing some one post a picture of one of those boxes several months ago... if I remember correctly it was concluded that the company no longer made them and now it was some kind of holy grail junkyard find....lol

Mine isn't exactly what you explained, but I got one at the dealer. Its got 2 flip down covers on the front of it, I think it was used for adding a cd changer to an XJ

That would most likely be MY "Holy Grail" tool box. I recently found another one in an XJ that burned at the engine, so now, I have one for my wifes' XJ. And yeah, the company that made them is gone.

My mom has a 96 grand cherokee with the same little spot except hers has a net on the side so it is actually used for something. I took a look at it and it looks like the netting is connected to a piece of plastic and it runs all the way around the wheel well dent thingy...check it out...
