|
power steering pump is dying!!
..and im going wheeling this weekend, im about to head to the junkyard, what swaps are there out there? ive heard grand cherokee pumps are stronger and a direct swap? any truth here? or should i just get a stock replacement and call it good?
1990 4L-i6 with durango steering box turning 36s..

I went with a pump from a 2001 Grand Cherokee and run the Dakota box. It is a bit twitchy going on the highway. Even adding the hydro assist didn't calm it all the way down.

How do you know it's bad? A lot of times they just scream if the fluid is low and the fluid becomes foamy. Filling it up and running the steering from lock to lock 3 times usually gets the air out.

cuz i always check the fluid cold and hot and its progressively gotten weaker over the last year. and it screams perty bad
