I wanted to be able to have my condenser fan switch on pressure instead of compressor demand. After a little research, I found that the 2000-2001 XJs had the this feature and simply swapping the stock switch out for the trinary one on the later models. You wire the low pressure portion back into the factory circuit and the high pressure contact into the fan relay. You will have to disconnect the fan relay trigger from the ECU or it will just run with compressor demand.
I've swapped to an aftermarket fan shroud and controller (3x10" Spal with Flex-a-lite PWM controller). If you were to do this with a stock system, you would have to lose the ability for the fan to work off of coolant temps.
Overall, the system works great.
