North Island, BC - Canada / New Member Intro
After a few days of searching and reading the do's and dont's of the forum, thought it was time to show my face
![]() I have had an XJ for the last 6-7 years (2 different vehicles) and don't plan on ever going with anything else. My wife may disagree, but as long as I have a large cargo area I figure I don't have to sleep on the couch anyways ![]() Thanks for hosting a great site and I look forward to helping and being helped while we work our way through this crazy Jeep world of ours. Cheers! 1996 I6 - 4.0L Auto ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nice XJ.
I went to Vancouver Island back in 2006. Awesome place. I saw the big logging trucks used there (Pacific, Hayes, KW, Mack, etc).

Thanks for the welcome guys!
Glad you have had a chance to head out this way. I just moved back to the island after 10+ years away...Finding the old trails here is like Christmas all over again ![]() The logging trucks are probably my biggest worry out here when looking for trails...my VHF was definitely a welcome addition to the XJ. |

Yeah, the roads are pretty narrow and you never know when one will come around a corner. Bridges in many places are just wide enough for one vehicle to cross.
I'd say there are a lot of fun riding to do. We did the road between Gold River and Woss in a Nissan Xtrail. I was worried we'd have a blowout...the road was rough in many places. We met one of the Western Forest Products Challengers pulling a lowbed in a turn. That got the blood pumping (we were on our side of the road but those rigs are 16' wide). I've heard the road has since been closed due to a washout. I'd love to get back again. Here are the pictures from the trip: http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/edwin_robbins01.htm Here is a pic of me with the last Hayes HDX-1000 built in 1975 and driven by Steve Drybrough since it was delivered new. This was taken at Franklin River before we headed for the Sarita dry land sort. ![]()
