No Power to BOTH cig lighter and aux power

2000 XJ
all a sudden power lost to both outlets, everything else seems fine
looks like fuses are OK, going to swap them out just in case

where can i start to look into this problem?

power distribution center under hood? certain ground somewhere?

like i said just stopped all a sudden

I don't know if this pertains to a 2000(hopefully someone comments to confirm or deny) but on the early models there's a brown wire that comes off the ignition switch. That brown wire connects to the cig lighter outlets. It's a known trouble spot at the wire so you could check there and look for any melted wires, discolored wires... etc.

Replace the fuses. Test the output with a volts/ohms multi-meter, and check the fuses on whatever it is you are plugging in.

Remove the outlet panel and inspect the wires. Test their continuity. Locate the dashboard ground wires ( G107, G108 ) and make sure that they are clean and snug.

are all the grounds inside the cab?

could anything in engine power distro box be a cause?
