1996 Coolant over flow bottle question

Doing an open coolant conversion on a 1990 cherokee and was told to use a factory overflow bottle for a 1996 cherokee. This may sound dumb but there are 2 outlets for small hoses on the top of the bottle. One is the overflow and I'm assuming the other goes back into the top of the radiator underneath the cap? Does that sound right?
