Turn signals not working

Hello!

I have a 2000 Jeep XJ basic run if the mill Cherokee.
I can't seem to figure out why the turn signals are not working.
Hazards work. I checked all the fuses I know to check.
The parts store told me it's the flasher and that it was under the dash but the part they sold me doesn't appear to go under the dash or at least I can't see where it goes.
I have the plastic and the metal panel under the steering column removed.
I did notice that there is some kind of gizmo from when the previous owner used to tow it behind his motor home.

Does anyone know exactly where this flasher doohickey is?
I've had a few near misses already with other drivers not knowing that I was turning so I'd like to get this fixed.

Thanks in advance NAXJA!!

Update! I found a YouTube video and the part I was looking for is under the panels that I removed to the left just under the light switch.
What threw me is that it is wrapped with some foam tape and it was twisted and facing toward the fire wall. I actually looked at it several times and passed over it.
Anyway after a quick tug it came out and I replaced it.
Now I have turn signals!

On to the next project!!
