Precision U joints

I toasted a Ujoint on the front driveshaft sometime at WF. I pulled the shaft when I got home and just now had time to replace it. I just snagged one from O'Reilly's and took it home. It's Precision brand, greasable at the cap(Part # 280 if you're interested). I was pleasantly surprised to see "Made in the USA" stamped on it! That really surprised me for some reason. I've never ran a Precision joint before. I'm curious as to others experiences with them, good or bad. I'm going to run it regardless.

never in the Jeep, but I've used them many times in the race car and most of the old Mustangs I used to play with. Never had any problems and they took as much abuse as anything else could!

I never heard of Precision U joints. I just replaced my rear driveshaft u-joints before x-mas, I used Brute Force from Advance Auto, made in USA 16.00 each. I would pay more for US made parts.

USA or U.S.A.? with the periods is the united steel association. still made in china.

I'm not taking the joint out to get a pic of it, so here's the box. The box was made in USA. I bet the United Steel Association dables a little in cardboard too.:dunno:

Whan I was working for NAPA, we sold Precision almost exclusively. Never had a warranty return, I am also running precisions on my fathers 88 fullsize dodge van without trouble....

And from the feel of the axle joints (in 4x4) I may need to replace them here soon.... Some squeeks when turning, and also they may be what is causing my bad vibes at 55MPH or so.....

I actually bought an off brand, made in china...didnt fit right, couldnt cross reference the application, total pain in the ass. Picked up the Precisions, good fit, decent price, no problems.

Mike....

These are the joints I run. Good joints. good price. made in the right place...

And greaseable for a better price that the crap Brute Force ones VatoZone sells...

Actually if you would like to get more technical if the box is made in the USA but product is not, many times before to get a sale they will put it on the box but not the product. Stamping I was refering to was on product of just saying "U.S.A." with no "made in" part. Majority of cast parts are made in india silly pants
