Just got home and decided to hang the housing before putting everything on it. Glad I did as pictured is 16deg castor 🤯
Luckily I also learned these arms are adjustable
Nap time then play with arms t get rid of 10deg or so maybe 12.
The arm is sitting how I had it pictured in my head. flaat

Shock mount straddling arm bolt. Man that arm is offset more than I thought. That's actually good for when I do long arms.

Just went for a spin bought 10 mile's 5 or so on gravel at speed. Its remarkably smoother its wandering alittle ill bump castor up. And holy shit it brake dives. It is 3link I've raised the lowers 1.5ish maybe 2" I dont know if its diving because I lost that much link separation or because its 3link.
When I do the long arms I'll get the link separation at the axle back but I'm going to lose separation at the frame end.

It is a much smoother ride. The brake brake dive isn't a deal breaker. I'll do some research to see wht causes it.
Looking forward to getting out on some slow speed rough stuff

That suuuucks... Glad noone got hurt, isht is dangerous!

Couple questions...

Wth did you paint your exhaust with??? Looks good but not much paint Id trust to not burn and smell like death.

And, you made those relocation brackets right?
You said you were on like 3 inches of lift... But from the original location and stock shackles Id say thats a solid 5 inches, no?

Oh, and hows the lincoln locker feel? I loved going from open or worn out lsd to welded diff in the ZJ... I know the 4.slow will still burn rubber on 33s, but the 5.2 would chirp into 2nd on the street with 35s if I shifted manuallyand bury the tires to the diff in seconds offroad. Used ro back up to the lake and bury the back for easy access to the hatch for camping fishing etc, then pop her in 4low and jump out of the hole I dug.when it was time to go.... And then like a good boyscout fill my holes before I left :D

i built my 3 link at 100% anti dive. even with no rear brakes it didnt put you into the belts. youve got geometry giving you that feel.

What are your arm lengths?

Now it will be

Currently lowers about 15 1/4" upper is fixed factory.
This is center of bolt to center of bolt.

This morning I set toe. Reset it it. Was toed out for some reason.

Thought I had 4deg castor but I must be wrong or gauge reading a few deg of.
Will bump a couple more deg into or until coil runs into my track bar bracket.. drives like its has very little positive castor

Arms will be 28-30"ish in not sure how long upper will be20-30" possibly 70% of lowers. But probably about the same for ease of fab mounting upper and lower on the same plate.

Have a bone stock xj at the house to compare I'm definitely 2" or less of lift.
Yes shackle is relocated shackle length is 6" not quite at 45 leaf springs flat to slight negative arch at ride height

Got some mud on here last night.
I love the welded rear. It's the 3rd axle I've welded and survived.
Picture on jack stands was this morning resetting toe.
Will get a few more deg castor and go out this evening. Hopefully that gets her tracking straight.

Lower arms arent quite as flat as pictured there offset 1/2"-3/4" on the axle side. I guess they're after market arms.

The paint is some kind of ceramic it has to be baked on pr heat cycled a few times to cure. If you paint something and take of driving like normal it will burn off but does not if heat cycled. Only run for 5-10 minutes to operating temp then shut off for a full cool down. Have to do this 3 times to bake paint on.
Paint is rated to 1200deg and holds up on my Cummins exhaust. The xj will never see the temps the cummins does. However it does not hold up to landing on a Jack stand

Scrounged some plate out of my stash since I'm pretty much out.

Roughed in plates . Poly bushing placed at about link length give or take alittle 28".
Brackets will weld to frame sides bottom and underside of unibody with some kind of crossmember bolted between them.

This project is under way because upper factory link will not work as a 3link and I want to get rid of some brake dive maybe not all.

I did alittle slow Crawley stuff and kind of like the weight transfer to the rear under throttle it also feels good under speed coming out of high speed turns makes the rear anchor and bite.

Heres the upper not being very happy
Yes someone forgot to tighten the bolt thankfully that some caught it and tightened it.

Getting alittle contact driving at speed in the rough rolly stuff. Just barely touching

Thinking about going to a post top mount shock in 12" stroke to gain some travel. What I'm running is only 9" just aren't long enough.
Ofcourse monomax if I can find some specced for pickups that work

Three links on short arms, one being factory is DEFINITELY not advisable. I thought you were doing passenger side 3 link? If so, throw the other factory arm on until you get the Mid arms complete.

Your shocks aren’t long enough?? Looks like they are to long to me... in the flex pic driver side isn’t showing 9”s of extension is it?? Looks like they are to long in all the pics to me

Yes 3rd passenger is the plan. Its tight probably have to beat the floor in to maintain some link separation.
I welded scrap on factory upper so I can drive it for now.
Yes shock is limiting factory both ways
