i thought i was sold on a m8000 so i wrote warn as to the differences between the m8 and the vr8 which seems to be better electronics....
3rd option smittybilt x20 10k

the new vr are contator based and are essentially identical to the m8000.

love merica, but m8 cable is 575$ add spydura 850$ good product

vr-8 500- 667$ no clue as to its reliability...

SBilt x20-549$ synthetic- the only reason its still in the race is because its stats out perform warn for heat dissipation and amp draw.

i would like to hear from anyone running these.

Re: Warn M8000 or VR-8

I have run a M8000, with synthetic line, for almost ten years without a problem.
The relay box is mounted under the hood, for protection from the elements.

That said, I have no idea which is the better winch and the M8000 is more expensive.
Few will have run both and even then, how do you actually compare them...pull speed, amperage draw, how much the winch heats up under a hard pull, quality of the mechanical build, there are a lot variables.
