Hey guys.
My Jeep is driving me nuts and I am looking for some ideas.

4.6 stroker. Been running good almost 10 years.
aw4 trans

Replaced the CPS TPS IACV and bypassed the fuel pump ballast. in the last year.

About 2 weeks ago. sitting in a drive through idling. the jeep died.
Would not immediately turn on.
Fuel pressure was 45lb's
After 1 min. and me popping the hood she started.

yesterday morning. 18 mile drive to work. halfway there. 65mph. I looked down. 0rpm. she just died.
no stumble.
no cough.
just oh. 0 rpm.
I know its not good. but whatever.

while moving. popped into neutral restarted her. no issues.
drove the rest of the way to work.

today.
driving home.
Got off the fwy after 16 miles.
Died at the light.
Would not start.
After 5mins and me wiggling wires *unsure if this did anything* nothing was loose.
she started right up. and I drove home.

Ideas ? im thinking CPS but idk...
has to be electrical is my assumption.
I am going to check all my grounds once the sun isnt 105degrees outside.

So. Update.
Im gonna throw money at it and see what happens.
Bought a new Crank position sensor.
Mine is BWD "Broken When Delivered"

It’s a 92 xj.
Update on what I did

My grounds are looking tarnished. I loosened them and retightened for now.
Issue has not happened since.
I am going to take them off and wire brush them all next week.

Have you checked for fault codes yet?
on the 92-95. you are a danm lucky man if you get a check engine light.
I have owned this car for almost 12 years..
I the only CEL Ive ever had was transmission.

maybe that's just me.
but these years just do not throw codes.

Even so, it's worth doing the ignition key trick and seeing if the CEL blinks out anything other than "55" (end of buffer).

when i had intermittent problems turned out to be the coil. but it was thermally induced failure. it would cut out and not start again till it had cooled down.
good luck with it.

I've had intermittent no-start problems three times on my 91. Two of those times it was a CPS (showed a code 11) and once a coil (showed no codes). And that's about what I've found over the years, you can find ~50% of your start/run problems by reading the OBD1 codes. Not perfect, but better than nothing.
