Stubbys Build Thread

Question for the Masses? Im going back and forth between the Affordable Offroad Elite Pre runner winch set or the Nates 4x4 Front and Rear combo #2. Any recommendations? Reviews? First Hand experience?

Disregard, After some light reading and some more google fu decided i dont want to deal with any hassle, Sounds like Affordable will be the route im going!

Lastly moved the tools from the small action packer into the pelican case! Also added a few other things (winter survival gear) since it had more room!

Also went through my Jump kit (orange bag) replaced the expired equipment and added a few extra austere environment supplies!

Took a break for a little, Was getting to cold in my unheated garage to do anything.

Also was gone quite a bit Teaching Rope Rescue!

So Anyway, Yesterday Was out in Denver picking up some Tile from Home Depot and decided to swing into a pick and pull to score some treasures!

Got a Tranny cooler, Ford Taurus Fan, new Airbox to replace mine and Scored some seats Got the Fronts and the Backs,

So Today after cleaning them all up got the seats installed!

Figured while i had the seat out i would go ahead and put the new JCR center console bracket in ive had since Thanksgiving!

What a difference that made!

First one in!

and Finally Both installed. So much more comfy than the ones before especially because the guy that had it used to gangster lean in it and it was permanently indented back and to the right!

Well after a few months of not getting to work on the Jeep due to Work and then it being down for a month due to an electrical Gremlin. I fiannaly got a few things accomplished today and had a chance to play a little on the new toy my buddy built. definitely need to trim the fronts!

Grand Cherokee Rears finally installed!

And we’re back at it. The front grille was cracked from the previous owner. Never realized how bad until I got to Messi g around with it the other day.

So long story short got some extra money teaching ropes again. FYI portable rope towers are awesome! Glad my state training agency bought this. We’ll be able to Bri g rope classes to a lot more departments now!.

Got my new battery box from DirtBound Offroad put in. 2 of the studs were broke so I drilled them all out and dropped some new hardware in there!

Then I got my THOR cowl intake installed. Only could do so much with the grinder. Don’t have a die grinder so finished it up with the dremel. Luckily I was just fighting up the clamps when the page dropped.

Hope to finish buttoning everything else up tom!

Anyone who’s done this give me an idea how long till I can drive it? I know it says 24 hours light use for a pickup bed, 7 days full cure?

I usually park outside and it’s taking up room in my buddies garage now!

I did a towable air compressor a few weeks ago -- Put some clean water in a spray bottle and spray a mist on the entire truck -- Moisture helps cure the monstaliner

24 hours in my garage here in NJ and the liner was still slightly tacky -- barely

I'd say you are safe to move it outside after 24 hours -- I wouldn't drive it for 48 -- Hate for things to stick to the fenders being kicked up by the tires

Keep misting it whenever you can, can't hurt and only helps cure -- Complete cure in 7 days -- one tough finish

What color -- Desert sand?

Medium Quartz Gray. I’ll post pictures later!

Thanks for the tip on the water bottle. I’ll snag one from the wife’s stash!

I just installed the THOR cowl intake. Love it so far. The cabin noise is no big deal.

You did a great job on the Monstaliner. I did a motorcycle in 'Lady in Red' two years ago. Its holding up great. No fading, rock chips, or scratches.

So what did you use to prep -- Is that something sprayed on the black before Monsta?

Did you roll or spray? How much monstaliner did you end up using? How about the door jambs?

I'm really thinking changing mine to Dirt Bag sometime soon

Sanded down the entire jeep with 80 grit. Had some bare metal spots afterwards so I hit the whole thing with some self etching primer then scuffed again with the pad included in the kit.

Rolled it on after cutting in with the brush.

I did not do the entire jamb. I opened the doors during the second coat and rolled a little on then. I only ended up using just over a gallon. I would say a gallon and a quart would have been plenty.

I did measure and divide out my second gallon and only used a quart out of it. So I have 3/4 still that I can mix and use down the road if needed. (Jambs, touch up)

So you where able to measure out the color and the hardener to make a quart out of a gallon

Thats good to know it's possible and still get a color match

Yea. I did borrow some measuring cups from a buddy who owns a body shop though. Made it a lot easier. He also threw the gallon, color and hardner all in his shaker for me before I divided them up!

Well I decided since I’m stuck on shift for the next 48 I’d get some more done since I can pull my jeep into the nice heated truck bays!

So I got my Affordable Offroad sliders installed!
