Project Unicorn - a light duty trail rig

SFR trans mount went up. If you read the instructions you'll notice its backward. You'd think I would get that right the first time.

So fixed.

I spent far too long staring at this till I realized it's the same picture posted twice.

Lol glad I wasnt the only one staring into the twighlight zone trying to see what was different!

Man o man- so close!!!

Electrical and accessories is all that's left???

The suspense is.... Suspenseful!!

A little more than that. Right side accessories, trans lines, driveshafts, shifters, entire cooling system, entire AC system, all electrical, gas tank swap (and lines, injectors, etc). there's probably a full day to day and a half of work left.

You're flat rate- you can knock 'er out in a couple hours! LOL

Love the OCD details man.. Chasing bolt holes etc etc #jealous

lol and i thought i was kind of hurrying. i don't have a lot of chill about getting this done because its my DD.

been driving the tow rig to work on 14 ply tires since it broken. its really killing me.

Thread hijack: Dang, Shoeter, that ball in your avatar sure landed close to the pin. I rolled this one nearly into the cup on a par three playing 124 yards last summer.

OK, now back to the topic at hand: unicorns.

Nice shot!
Mine was a 146 par 3... Looks like it hit the flag to end up where it did.. Might've spun back past the flag idk.. Pw so it had spin on it. I thought for sure it was buckets! The vantige point from the tee the ball mustve been in line with the flag- everyone groaned when they saw it wasn't in the hole when we walked up

Worked my ass off today.

I am one incorrect fuel pressure regulator away from starting it up.

More updates later i guess.

The night is young!!
Take a break grab a bite... a fpr and fire her up!!

Fix it till its broke!

i'm on vacation, so you guys have to wait until 4/16 for updates.

I did update the photo gallery, though.....

I thought vacations were for getting work done on project cars.

All I have done lately is work on project cars. Back to back engine swaps wore me out.

alright. i'm home, let me find my photos, crack a beer and get this show on the road.

*edit*

apparently not. about half of my last set of photos are missing. re-uploading.

For some reason my pictures uploaded all out of order. That's going to make this update harder, but i'll see what I can do.

First thing was to bolt the torque converter down. ARP does not make a bolt that works for this, but I did manage to get new Mopar hardware.

20190405_105703-me.jpg

The manifolds were in, so I tossed in a new DEI heat shield.

Next I pulled out my very sexy NRT Autosports billet fuel rail.

Attached the mounts with supplied hardware and just a touch of blue loctite.

Once those are in, you need to address the ends. They are threaded for an o-ring fitting, you can put 90* to AN fittings on them and make it a flow through rail. Which to that end, it would be really nice if the factory quick disconnect fitting were an AN fitting you can put a cap or a quick disconnect on to, but not impossible to deal with.

20190405_120513-me.jpg

Supplied caps and o-rings.

20190405_120505-me.jpg

Installed with a small touch of blue loctite.

20190405_120631-me.jpg

And installed with 30 pound EV6 injectors from Five-O motorsports. Notice they have 2 holes, not 12..

20190405_115608-me.jpg

And then in the car.

20190405_123456-me.jpg

DEI heat wrap on the injectors, too.

20190405_124403-me.jpg

I also had wrap for the fuel rail, but it did not fit around this blingy rail.

I have a 64mm throttle body from Mean Lemons, they hooked me up way cheaper than anyone else could.

20190405_124915-me.jpg

Tossed new Mopar sensors on it and installed with the gasket i trimmed before the manifold went in.

20190405_130749-me.jpg

And then installed a new Mopar coil pack.

20190405_132219-me.jpg

And then finished bolting the rest of the accessories on.

20190405_151651-me.jpg

And tied it all together with Gates new RPM belt. Supposed to be as strong as their heavy duty belt series, but with enough bite to spin a supercharger at speed.

20190405_151803-me.jpg

Hard to get a good picture of it, but the belt is actually sparkly.

20190405_152030-me.jpg

Interesting to note, the belt does not stretch at all.

Dropped the radiator and AC condenser in place and routed/installed the coolers.

20190405_165744-me.jpg

I don't know if you can tell, but the hoses JUUUUST squeeze into an existing void in the metalwork. There isn't room for anything else here.

20190405_165757-me.jpg

And right on par, dropped the 10mm into a void in the body. Took some time to fish it back out.

20190405_171755-me.jpg

Got the front end back together as well as the misc under hood stuff. Need to find a replacement color matched bezel that isn't damaged. Dunno what happened to this one, been this way a while.

20190405_174703-me.jpg

In theory if i turn the key now, it should start. I'm nervous.
