Evening all,
96 Classic 4wd with 249k on original drivetrain.
Recently drove 500 mi round trip and lost 1st, 4th, and OD on the way home.
NAXJA search seemed to agree with solenoids so I bought 3 (global transmission kit came with gasket and filter) and replaced them.
Worked great, runs great, not difficult at all..thanks!

As an "It might happen to you" I thought I'd mention that it took me 6 hours to get the pan off! I believe that on a long ago exhaust system replace, the S bend which passes in front of the tranny pan was replaced with a larger diameter pipe which was just enough to prevent the pan from dropping.

I ended up using a hand crank come-along with one hook inserted at the tow hook bracket, and the other hook wrapped around the transverse segment of the pipe that runs in front of the pan.
I was able to pull the pipe just far enough to drop the pan.
