  • Hi, I just checked out your website with modifications to your 2001 XJ. Very cool! The only thing I noticed was your "disabling the auto A/C compressor during defrost/heat mode" modification. As a mechanic, the reason auto manufacturers have the A/C system come on automatically during defrost is to help remove the moisture from the air. Despite the fact that this seems counter-productive to heating up the windshield, the A/C evaporator near the heater core will cause the moisture in the air to condense onto the evaporator core and drain outside the vehicle. This speeds up the defrosting process and helps keep moisture out of the cab and from forming rust on internal parts. So by disabling this feature, you might actually be slowing down your defrost process. Just food for thought. Good luck!
