300K, NP231J, Should I rebuild?

My XJ has 300K on it. Looks like new and runs fine.
I plan to keep forever.

Engine runs perfectly, no oil burning etc.
Put in brand new AW-4, just 3 months ago. (Old one burned up)

My 231 Transfer case is original but I know the chain is really stretched.
Rebuilding it would cost about 100 for a new chain and 100 for a master rebuild kit with seals etc. I believe that is all that I would need to rebuild her.

Does it pay to rebuild with 300K or should I look for another option?

Thanks,
Jeffy-97XJ

I don't see why not. It's not like there's that many moving parts in there to wear out. If anything, cracking it open to look doesn't cost anything. Give it a look and see if anything looks too worn out, and go from there.

The 231 is a good T-case. I'd say either simply rebuilt it or do some internal upgrades to it-your choice. No reason to replace the case-It should last a long time with rebuilds.
