anyone have a link to ID axles off tags?

trying to ID some axles through a friend thats out in the cuts and not very mechanicly inclined to help ID these off covers. i believe its a 35 and i know it has 3.55s but he says it has a metal oil plug on the cover. i just wanted to make sure before i tell him to toss it.

the tag reads

53605387
3.55 605387-1

The year and does it have ABS, would help.

My 88 has a D35 with a metal fill plug.

no clue what year, no ABS...the axles are sittin in his backyard, he does'nt know what years. i asked if it had a ovalish cover and he says it does but he just isnt sure, im pretty sure its a 35 though.

The 8.25 has a very noticeable flat spot on the housing bottom (not the cover).

Those numbers look like Dana build tags.

If he's just going to toss the axle, can I get the cover? If it takes a metal fill plug, I've got uses for it (as opposed to that ridiculous rubber "butt plug" that ChryCo saddled everyone with...)

Indeed it is a Dana BOM. Checking the Dana website at http://www2.dana.com/expert/wc.dll?hvtss~deabill~4~ shows "JEEP Model 35 REAR 1988.5 - 1989 XJ UTILITY, I-6 AUTOMATIC". Standard 3.55 gears from the factory.

What would you want the covers for? Hopefully not putting them on a D35 c-clip, as the fill hole is too low.

i will see what i can do about the covers, i know i have one called for already. should be 2
