Iranian Revolution?

So who's been following the events in Iran closely?

Pretty f**king incredible to see people trying to take control of their destiny.

My wife (who's a HUGE tech geek and computer game programmer) has been following it on twitter and I've never seen her this wrapped up in something political. Strangely enough, some of the stuff she has read or shown me is moving in it's naivety and incredible in the courage these 'kids' are showing.

You know it's real when you see a twenty something, unarmed, young woman shot and killed by an unknown sniper.

part of me is hoping for it, I am not sure that the country can cause any more instability in the region than it already is, might as well "hope" for some "change" there as well.

Part of me knows that a lot of bystanders are going to die in the process though. The Ayatollah is not going to give up power easily.

Considering the Ayatollah controls everything I'm not too sure that the differences between Ameninijihad and Mousavi are as great as the press would have us believe.

The term is figurehead.

I think the biggest thing that really started it is the rigged election. I was watching some vids about some Iranians who were FURIOUS that they did it. Not because of the rigging, per se; but the fact it was so obvious. They felt like their intelligence had been attacked.

Odd, the younger generation in Iran want a more Western (dare we say Democracy) government and are willing to die to make their wishes known? I thought WE were evil and caused all the worlds problems.....oh, wait a minute, that's our own leaders saying that!

Ok, so let me get this straight.....a country who's leaders (and puppets) referred to our President as The Great Satan just a year ago, is now being urged to be more like us by it's citizens?

And countries that have tried Socialism, nationized healthcare and monitized their debt, are now moving away from Socialism, are privatizing there healtcare and are finally starting to pull out of a decade-long recession by allowing capitolism to work without government influence......I can only hope that all those intelligent men and women in Washington that we've elected to act in out behalf are listening and paying attention to world affairs and are studying up on their US history..........

You're right, Jeff. This is something I've thought about for some time....observing countries that failed because socialism, fascism, or some other ism didn’t work after decades of trying. Capitalism has been a hallmark of our country for over 200 years. And it’s not about greed, as the progressives would have us believe; rather, it’s about freedom. And this what many Iranians seemingly desire. The irony is that our current administration and progressives in congress want to take us down the Socialist/Fascist path. How quickly they forget.

Sorry, I kind of lost track. Which 2 of the 536 elected officials in DC are the intelligent ones?

Obviously Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi
The "536" wasn't a mis-print. There's 537 elected officials Washington(535 cong + the pres. and veep.)

I just kind of assumed we all KNEW Joe Biden wasn't one of the inteligent ones.:D

I never really thought about it, but now that you mention it, I am not sure I count the VP. I forget who said it, but the value of the VP's office in general was equated to be about that of a "pitcher of warm spit".

Unless you're Dick Cheney.

He was a very proactive VP. But then again he was brought on board because he had quite a bit of experience in the foreign policy realm, so I would kinda expect that.

Biden was brought on board for purely political reasons as far as I can tell.
