Mr. Obama:
I have had it with you and your administration, sir. Your conduct on
your recent trip overseas has convinced me that you are not an adequate
representative of the United States of America collectively or of me
personally.
You are so obsessed with appeasing the Europeans and the Muslim world
that you have abdicated the responsibilities of the President of the
United States of America . You are responsible to the citizens of the
United States ... You are not responsible to the people of any other
country on earth.
I personally resent that you go around the world apologizing for the
United States telling Europeans
that we are arrogant and do not care about their status in the world.
Sir, what do you think the First World War and the Second World War were
all about, if not the consideration of the people of Europe? Are you
brain dead? What do you think the Marshall Plan was all about? Do you
not understand or know the history of the 20th century?
Where do you get off telling a Muslim country that the United States
does not consider itself a Christian country? Have you not read the
Declaration of Independence or the Constitution of the United States ?
This country was founded on Judeo-Christian ethics, at least until you
came along, and the principles governing this country come directly from
this heritage. Do you not understand this?
Your bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia is an affront to all
Americans. Our President does not bow down to anyone, let alone the
king of Saudi Arabia . You didn't show Great Britain , our best and
one of our oldest allies, the respect they deserve, yet you bow down to
the king of Saudi Arabia . How dare you, sir! How dare you!
You can*t find the time to visit the graves of our greatest
generation because you don*t want to offend the Germans, but make time
to visit a mosque in Turkey . You offended our dead and every veteran
when you gave the Germans more respect than the people who saved the
German people from themselves. What*s the
matter with you?

I am convinced that you and the members of your administration have the
historical and intellectual depth of a mud puddle and should be ashamed
of yourselves, all of you.
You are so self-righteously offended by the big bankers and the
American automobile manufacturers, yet do nothing about the real thieves
in this situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelic,
the Fannie Mae bonuses, and the Freddie Mac bonuses. What do you intend
to do about them? Anything? I seriously doubt it.
Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210 million
in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 million more than
the AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already
been awarded $51 million * not a bad take. Who authorized that and
why haven*t you expressed your outrage at this group who are largely
responsible for the economic mess we have right now.
What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses
to their staff members * on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay
raises that lawmakers gave themselves? I understand the average House
aide got a 17% bonus. I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my
employer. You haven*t said anything about that. Who authorized that?
I surely didn*t!
I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and not
caring about what you idiots do. We are watching what you are doing and
we are getting increasingly fed up with all of you.
I also want you to know that I personally find just about everything
you do and say to be offensive to every one of my sensibilities. I
promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not get a
chance to spend two terms destroying my beautiful country.
Sincerely,

Isn't this a custom that shows respect towards another person?

Some people believe that he bowed in a servitude way and not a respect way. (But I think you know that.)

Personally I think he just made a mistake. No harm no foul.

If Obama didn't bow, do you think there would be an uproar because he didn't show proper respect?

I'm sure there would, everyone would be calling him arrogant then. It happens to every sitting President, no matter what they do someone, somewhere will criticize it.
How many times did people bust on Bush for saying words wrong?

Yeah, that's one reason I'd never want to be Pres.

But Bush's word blunders were awesome.

Yea they were pretty funny.

Now we just need Obama supporters to accept the fact that people are going to nit-pick on him just like they did to Bush.

its about whether or not he bowed, its the way he did it. he dropped his eyes to the floor and bent completely at the waist, showing submission. the proper way would have been to maintain eye contact.

ive read this a couple times before, and alot of similar ones. i hope at least one copy of each of these reaches BOs desk.

Exactly. As has been discussed before, the "Prussian Bow" would have been more appropriate - breaking eye contact and fully bending at the waist is showing servile tendencies, not respect (pretty much anyone who has taken any martial arts knows that when you bow, you maintain eye contact...)

And I'd like to think they'll get to where he can read them, but you just know he's got enough staff to fully insulate himself, right?

Any problem with a firm hand shake?
And the letter was fairly specific and details ommisions, errors, and insinuations beyond gramatic/lexographic ineptness therefore I think it falls outside of nit-picking.

There are cultures that don't approve of a firm handshake, generally speaking.

For instance, nearly any Asian culture finds a handshake insulting, and the bow is greatly preferred. Moreover, the degree of respect is shown by the depth of the bow - when acknowledging the bow of a subordinate, I've seen simply inclination of the head to suffice. When bowing to a supervisor, the subordinate generally tilts forward about halfway. When a worker is bowing to the owner of a company, he very nearly folds himself in half at the waist.

Showing respect by bowing down is better than puking on the prime minister.

Just a thought.

and if you look hard enough somewhere on the net there is a photo of former President George W Bush kissing the king.

but what's really distressing about the current administration is he is not living up to his
campaign dream

You expected him to?

Obama is reminding me more and more of Columbus, in a symbolic sense. He's got no idea where he's going, doesn't know where he will be when he gets there, and won't be able to tell anyone where he went - and still manages to do it all on someone else's money.

Whether it's the DNC's money (to start the trip) or ours (to carry it through) - it's not his either way.

Oh - and I get your point, but there is a difference (to me, at least) between "showing respect" and "showing servitude." Unless the Saudi king returned the bow to the same extent (which I am somehow impelled to doubt,) then there was an imbalance which showed servility more than respect.

The Post Turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President. The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Obama is a 'post turtle'. Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was. The old rancher said : When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle. The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself. he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb ass put him up there to begin with."
