welding on axle

This might be a silly question but here it goes..Is it ok to weld on a axle under the car still together?

Yup, just be careful of eveything around you. Watch where the weld spatter goes, make sure you don't heat the metal too hot by seal/oil, and it's always a good idea to disconnect the neg battery terminal-just in case.

Yes generally it is ok to weld on a installed axle, but it your going to do some major welding like adding an axle truss or just relocating brackets it is a good idea to remove the axle and do it the right way first. That way you dont run into unforseen problems down the road.
