Power Window Grinding noise

99 xj. Drivers side. i took the whole track and motor out. With only the motor itself plugged in it didnt make any noise going all the way down ar all the way up. Theres two spots on the cable that look like theve been rubbing against the gear in the motor. I turned the cable 190 degrees and it worked fine. Installed it back in the door and it started doing it again. Anyone know if all i need is a new cable?

Don't know...but, had the same problem on the passenger side. Turned out it wasn't gear grinding as much as it was noise with the gear going in and out of the sleeve.
