leaking front axle

i have a 99 xj, just changed the passenger side front u-joint. Now the gear oil is comin out of the axle tube! is it possible that i ruined the inner seal? or could I have bent the outer oil slinger causing it to leak? the axle went in smoothly so i suspect the oil slinger.

outer "slinger" does not retain the oil, it just keeps some debris out of the axle tube. You could have damaged the inner seal on installation or removal of the axle shaft OR you may have had enough oil in the axle to flow into the tube when the axle shaft was out and it's only now finding it's way to the end. I'd clean everything up, refill the differential, and see if it continues to leak.

ok, I cleaned everything up now i just gotta check the fluid level and look for puddles. hopefully it was just residual fluid! Thanks for your help.
