ZJ steering swap or fab up my own?

Getting close to having everything I need for my XJ, now I want to deal with steering. Right now, I plan on running RE's 7.5" LA with 35's, the kit already comes with a drop pitman arm, so that's taken care of. Next is dealing the Y steering setup. I've read about people swapping to the ZJ setup, seems like an inexpensive upgrade. I was considering picking up the components and possibly build a steering setup myself, currie/ballistic rod ends, 1.25 DOM tubing, is it much involved with fabbing up steering? I have the tools and basic fabrication knowledge, the only thing I'm not sharp on is steering geometry and effective configurations of steering.

Anyone? Maybe this should go in the fab section?
