05 Explorer 8.8?

I have a line on an 8.8 from an 05 Ford Explorer... it's got 4.10's, limited slip, discs and only 40 000km's on it and it's only $100! I was just curious though if anyone knows if this axle has the same dimensions as the earlier 8.8's (I previously had a 98 8.8 in my last XJ) and if it'd be the same work involved getting it under an XJ?

Any info/links etc... to 8.8 specs would be appreciated.

call me crazy, but i think that they were independent rears

I thought they were the same, just has drums instead of discs.

It's definately a solid axle. I saw it with my own 2 eyes.

must be out of a port trac cuz my sister had an 04 exploder which is the same as the 05 and it was an indepenjunk rear...did it have discs or drums

Discs. It was tagged 4L10. I'm most likely gonna grab it unless it's gone by the time I get there tomorrow and hopefully it'll work. I'll just take a bunch of measurements and compare em to the specs online for the older 8.8 and see if it's the same. Worse case scenario, it doesn't work and I'll have to resell it which won't be hard at $100...

i'm pretty sure you're gonna be good to go with it - 100 is a steal for that thing
